As you sit here reading this description, there are probably several things you wish your present self could go back and tell your younger self about life. I'm right there with you and that's why I wrote this book. These are the things I would have told my younger self about e-learning and creating e-learning courses. They would have saved me valuable time, money and a lot of frustration....
Here are just a few of the things you will learn when you buy this book
- How the iPhone can make people love your e-learning courses. Steve Jobs spent years developing this technique.
- Why style guides are crucial to the success of an e-learning course. People trust consistency and style guides provide that.
- Objectives vs. goals Do you know the difference?
- How your favorite Web sites can give your e-learning a huge boost. You look at these sites every day for a reason; use that same reason to get people to love your courses....
- Why screen count doesn't matter to the learner. If you dazzle them with content, the length of the course won't matter.
- How subject-matter experts can actually hurt your courses. They are valuable sources of information but their information can sometimes be too much!
- Why your kid's comic books can jumpstart your e-learning courses. Comic books have a magical ability to capture our imagination; use that same technique to capture the imagination of your learners.
And much more.... These tidbits of advice can be used by any person who has ever considered creating e-learning or has ever been involved in the e-learning process. Follow my advice and watch your e-learning flourish!
26 Things I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me About Elearning (Audible Audio Edition) John Araiza Kevin Pierce Books
I just finished reading this book. Believe it or not, I read the whole thing on my iPhone. This book is a very, very quick read. As a matter of fact it will only take you less than a couple hours to read everything in it. If that. The reason why this book resonated with me is because I recognized a lot of the scenarios the author included. Yes… A few of the things he mentioned also happened to me. Most of my experience comes from the corporate training world. The author apparently also comes from that world. It is a no BS, no – nonsense world.
I recommend all instructional designer types or soon to be instructional designers to get this book. You will definitely use some of the things the author lists here. It is a book worth reading. Go get it now!

This book had a series of useful tips and guideposts to lead you in your e-learning development journey. John narrated some of his past positive and negative experiences with the idea that readers can better avoid the negative examples and incorporate the positive in their elearning courses.
This book has some good tips for people starting out in design and some good reminders for seasoned designers. Glad I added it to my library for future reference.
